Rules and Registration
   
Section 1 – Competitors

•    All Competitors must be a minimum 21 years of age or older.
•    The Invitational is open to all women regardless of proficiency.
•    There are no weight or height restrictions.
•    The Competitors must be available to attend the Grand Final July 13th, 2008 in Los Angeles, CA, and will be responsible for transportation and lodging (unless otherwise provided by the event organizers).
•    Each Grand Finalist will be required to sell 20 $50 tickets for the grand final in lieu of an entry fee, whether by purchasing and reselling or redirecting potential ticket request to Polestar. If a Grand Finalist does not sell the required amount of tickets, the Grand Finalist will be responsible for the $1000. Any ticket sales above the mandatory minimum (20) will be @ 90% of the ticket value.
•    Any Finalist that directly facilitates sponsorship activity for the Polestar Event will be entitled to10%OF THE TOTAL AMOUNT ACTUALLY RECEIVED FROM THE PROSPECTIVE SPONSOR.    
 
Section 2 – (Video Registrations)
Video registration must meet the following criteria:
•    Each Registrant must perform one routine in the preliminary heat of 3-5 minutes in duration.
•    Minimum pole height 9ft, static, chrome/brass/polished stainless steel.
•    Footwear: Minimum 6” stilettos.
•    The registration fee must be accompanied with each video registration ($10.00)
•    The video once submitted will be the property of X-Polesitions and will not be returned. Valuable

Section 2a – Venue: (On-sight Registration)
•    Each Registrant must perform one routine in the preliminary heat of 3-5 Minutes in duration.
at X-Polesitions Studio, North Hollywood California.
•    All rules governing performance contained regarding video registrations apply.
•    The registration fee must be paid with each registration ($10.00).


Section 3 – On-sight / Video Registration criteria:
•    Registration forms must be dated, in full and in accordance with these rules.
•    A copy of a valid identification must be presented on the day of the Invitational including
proof of age.
•    A 6X4 sized photograph must be presented upon qualification for the Grand Final.
•    The entrant must not advertise for their own personal gain or represent any other company without prior written permission from the Organizer.
•    The entry fee must be paid with each registration.
Section 4 – Approved Attire
•    Suitable attire must be worn.
•    Competitors must wear a minimum of hot pants and ¾ cup bikini top.
•    Outfits must not promote an individual pole school or business.
•    A minimum of 6” Stilettos must be worn.
•    Striptease or intentional removal of clothing is prohibited this includes accessories, e.g. hats, gloves etc.
Section 5 – General Candidate Rules
•    Competitors must conduct themselves in an appropriate manner at all times while involved in the Invitational.
•    They must comply at all times with the Invitational rules and regulations.
•    They must co-operate at all times with the Organizer and their representatives.
•    They must allow the Organizer and their representatives to use or take photographs for the purpose of publicity and promotion.
•    They must not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol at any time during the Invitational.
 
Section 6 – Disqualification

•    A competitor will be disqualified should any information supplied in connection with the Invitational prove to be false and/or inaccurate.
•    A candidate will be disqualified should they break any of these rules.
•    Nudity is strictly prohibited and immediate grounds for disqualification.








Section 7 – The Performance

•    There will be 1 entry level.  This level is open to all pole dancers, including students whether self-taught or through a pole school, professional pole dancers, podium & club dancers, instructors and any other kind of pole performer.
•    Each candidate must perform one routine in the preliminary heat and two routines in the Grand Final if chosen to take part in the dance off. Candidate should make their second routine different to their first, for example one fast and one slow. The routine used in the preliminary heat does not have to be repeated in the final unless the candidate chooses to do so
•    Music for each performance may be brought in by each candidate in CD format (please ensure they work on all systems) or chosen from the list available at the venue.
•    The routine should be a minimum of 3 minutes and maximum of 5 minutes in length
•    Any nudity, strip tease or conscious removal of clothing is strictly prohibited as is revealing body parts by the pulling up/down of clothing.
•    The routine although it may be sexy should not be sexual or lewd in anyway. Examples of lewd acts include; defamatory gestures to judges/audience, others at the judges discretion.
•    The routine should include tricks as well as a dance element including floor work.

Section 8 – Judging Criteria (Preliminary / Grand Final)

Each competitor will perform once in front of a panel of three or more expert judges. The Competition Judges are informed of the criteria for awarding points on a scale of 0-10 for each section. After each individual performance the Judges enter their scoring and record their observations before moving on to the next competitor. At the conclusion of each section the scores are calculated and compared to reach a final decision. There will be 20 entries judged from the Video and on-sight preliminary competitions.  The Grand Final July 13th, 2008 will determine the Polestar Invitational 2008 champion. 

Preliminaries and the Grand Final will be judged on the following 3 areas of performance: (The Organizers reserve the right to modify the Judging Criteria at its sole discretion.)

Technical:         (50%)     (Transitions, Pole tricks, Level of difficulty and floor movement.)   
Artistic:         (40%)    (Dance movement, originality, personality and fluidity.)   
Presentation:        (10%)  (Overall appearance, costume, crowd appeal and stage presence.)







Section 9 – Adjudication

•    Judging Criteria are described in detail in Section 8.
•    20 Competitors will advance to the Grand Final.
•    Competitors are prohibited from communicating with judges regarding the Invitational before or during the event .
•    The judges’ decision is final.
•    The Organizer reserves the right to expel any candidate before or during the Invitational.
•    Finalists must be available for a photo shoot before and after the Grand Final.


Section 10 – Organizer Responsibilities
The Organizer and/or their representatives will be responsible for:
•    Greeting all Competitors on arrival at the Invitational.
•    Providing the event venue, dressing rooms, on-sight security, and the Grand Prize of $10,000 in the form of a cashier check.
•    Explaining Invitational rules and format prior to commencement of the competition.
Section 11 – The Organizer
•    The Organizer constitutes the businesses Girl Power International and X-Polesitions.
•    The Organizer is not liable for any injury or damage resulting from the participation in the Invitational, either on-sight, or while recording video registrations. 
•    Any decisions not addressed by these rules will be made by the Organizer
•    All decisions made by the Organizer and or representatives are binding

Section 12 – Elimination
•    20 competitors will perform a 3-5 minute routine in the 1st heat of the competition and 10 competitors will be eliminated.
•    10 competitors will perform a 3-5 minute routine in the 2nd heat of the competition and 5 competitors will be eliminated.
Section 13 – Finalists
•    5 Finalist will perform 3-5 minute routine in this 3rd and final heat of the competition.
•    Judges will name the 5th, 4th, 3rd, 2nd runner up as well as our 1st place $10,000 Grand Prize winner.


Section 14 – Filming and Photography
•    Competitors have no right to compensation for photos or videos taken before, during and after the Invitational.
•    The candidate explicitly and irrevocably agrees that all footage and photography can be used by the Organizer for promotional, advertising and commercial purposes.
•    Winners may be required to appear on television, radio, film or print media for the publicity and promotion requirements of the Invitational.


I declare that I have read, understood and agree to abide by the above rules and regulations. I hereby apply to X-Polesitions as a Contestant in the Pole Star Invitational 2008 Event in accordance with the terms and conditions set out by X-Polesitions. I hereby agree to accept the decision of the Board of Judges as final and not subject to any question or appeal.
